Our Story

United Ummah, a charity founded by the late Mr Bashir Arain and his wife Mrs Nasreen Arain in 2003. United Ummah was founded after the atrocities that were taking place in Uganda following the LRA (Lords resistance Army) rebel movement, this rebel movement started in 1993 and saw the abduction of children by Joseph Kony to form an army that consisted mainly of child soldiers. These children were then forced to kill their parents and close relatives in a bid to break the bond between would be child soldiers and their families. 

During this horrific period, Uganda saw a surge of media coverage with claims that over 120,000 children under the age of 18 years were being abducted and used a child soldiers.
