YOU DID IT!

So much changed for all of us this year, none of us could have even anticipated the global pandemic that struck let alone the spiral effect it had. As we close off this year we here at UnitedUmmah would like to start off by thanking you for sticking by our side and continuing you donations for a very worthy cause.

This year we have seen a tremendous amount of changes within Uganda from national lockdowns to struggling governments. Yet words from the children at the orphanage give us hope and prove we have been successful in our mission to provide shelter, food and education.

So what has changed and how have we adapted?

When the pandemic hit we were asked to disperse the children and close our orphanage in a bid to bring virus number down. Now we understand above all the safety of the children is what matters most and so this request was duly noted, However we couldnt disperse these children and send them where? This is the only real home they have known. So what did we do? We worked with the government to set boundaries and safe spaces within our orphanage so that the children could continue undisturbed, we also choose to have the teachers live in with the children to minimise the risk of infection due to travel.

With you donations we were able to continue providing food and essentials so that there was never a day where a child went hungry, we also continued Quran studies within the orphanage, at the end of the day regardless of worldly factors it is our closeness to our lord that will set us free.
